August's Athlete of the Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.

This month's well deserving athlete is Adrienne Montero. We were so happy to have Adrienne here this summer as she was in Nashville for an internship. She has shown dedication and perseverance all summer long, even competing in a competition and taking 4th place! Because of her busy internship with Vanderbilt, Adrienne is consistently at the 6:30am class. Not only do we admire her dedication, but also her kindness. She leaves her ego at the door and always displays humility. We are sad that she has to return back to college in North Carolina very soon, but happy she chose to spend her summer with H Dub! Crossing our fingers she will be back!

Name: Adrienne Montero Hometown: Raleigh, NC Age: 20 Occupation: Student Tell us a little bit about yourself: I was born in Nashville, but my parents moved to Raleigh pretty much right after I was born. I am about to be a junior in the Fall at UNC Charlotte studying Exercise Science on a Pre-Physician Assistant track. I have one older brother who I’m super close with as well as with my parents! What were your goals when you started CrossFit? When I first started CrossFit, I really just wanted to get more active and get stronger. I was so tiny and weak! How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it? I have been doing it for 2.5 years now. When I got to high school, I stopped playing soccer so I didn’t work out or anything up until my senior year and then my brother had started CrossFit and kept telling me I should try it out, so I did and loved it. What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit? My favorite thing we do is probably doing partner workouts because I always push myself harder when I have someone cheering me on and doing the workout with me. My least favorite thing would probably have to be maxing out on a S2OH movement (I always think I’m going to drop it on my head)

How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you? CrossFit H Dub has been so awesome. I don’t think I would have made it through this summer without H Dub and I definitely never thought I would be able to get up to make it to 6:30 am classes, but I did it! (probs wouldn’t have at any other gym)

What advice do you have for newcomers? Don’t ever doubt yourself! If you put your mind to it, you can do it. What is something no one at the gym knows about you? I’m a huge Justin Bieber fan as you will see below :) Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive? Justin Bieber, my grandpa, and Thomas Rhett Akins If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be: Baby by Justin Bieber Favorite Sport? Soccer If you could have one super power what would it be? To be invisible What is your favorite cheat meal? Ice cream
