December's Athlete of the Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.

"Mr. December" is none other than Chad Meholic. Chad has displayed hard work and dedication since joining CrossFit H Dub in July 2017. Recently, CFHD did a 6-week nutrition challenge. The challenge had two routes to choose from: Paleo or Macros. Chad chose the Paleo route and stayed strong for the entire 6 weeks. We all know how hard not having a cheat meal for 6 weeks is (this includes alcohol) and we are super proud of him. Because of his consistency with the challenge and in the gym, his results were amazing! Not only is Chad hard working, but he also brings life and energy to any class he is in. We are grateful for his good vibes. Keep it up, Chad!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I’m pretty much a goofball—a child trapped in an adult’s body that takes everything way too seriously. I always like trying new things, and enjoy skiing and traveling to new places. I’ve lived in Nashville for the past 6 years (even though I try and pretend the year I lived in NYC didn’t exist in the middle of all that). I mean what else do people want to know? I’m pretty much an open book.

What were your goals when you started CrossFit?

To get more likes on #nakedinnature Instagram posts. Jokes, don’t use that, or use that because it may be half-true.

Wanted to break out of my comfort zone of typical cardio routines. After completing my first half-marathon in early 2017, I wanted to continue to step up my physical abilities and continue to push my body to its peak performance limits.

How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it?

I’ve been doing Crossfit for 6 months now, but attended a Bring a Friend day a year before joining the gym. Shout out to Ryan McGowin and Allie Mikels for making me take the big leap.

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit?

Love anything with jumping. Can’t stand doing anything upside down. People have feet, use them.

How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you?

Crossfit has held me accountable for an exercise regiment, and more than that, has drastically advanced my physical and mental capabilities. I continue to surprise myself on my strength, which is quite evident by the faces I make when Trey adds additional weights to the bar in the middle of workouts and doesn’t think I’ll notice.

What advice do you have for newcomers?

Don’t be afraid to take step one, it’s the hardest step there is. And enjoy the weight of the bar early on, it doesn’t get any lighter the longer you’re a member.

What is something no one at the gym knows about you?

Since it’s December it should literally just be an advent calendar about fun facts about me. So I’ll let you pick the most interesting ones.
