October's Athlete of the Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.

This month is the beautiful and talented Miss Alexis Wade. She is one of the most hard working gals we know! We knew she was a natural when she was doing handstand push-ups her second day on on-ramp. She has been dealing with a broken tibia for a few months now, but that never slowed her down. She kept coming to class and trusting her coaches to give her different movements. She is now a pro at the one-legged assault bike! Besides being a hard worker, she always comes in with a smile on her face (broken tibia and all). We are so happy to have this sweet girl in our H Dub family!

I am a Senior at Belmont University. I am a lover of coffee and cozy things. I love hanging out with friends and family during my free time. Also, I enjoy volunteering, and I strive to glorify the kingdom of God in all that I do.

What were your goals when you started CrossFit?

My goal was to become a healthier me and gain a stronger mindset.

How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it?

I have been doing CrossFit for about 5 months. I tried it out with my family after we watched a CrossFit competition. I was so amazed at what they were doing and knew that it would challenge me. I was ready to start something new. Beforehand, I was going to the gym on a regular basis, but I wanted to do something different. Once I started, I became a little bit obsessed.

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit?

My favorite thing to do is squat. There is not really anything that I don't like at CrossFit.

How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you?

Everyone is so encouraging and supportive. The community at H Dub is absolutely amazing. When I found out that I had fractured my tibia, all of the coaches were so helpful and worked to accommodate me in every workout. This was really beneficial to me, both physically and emotionally.

What advice do you have for newcomers?

Don't worry about what everyone else is doing. Focus on your goals and what challenges you. Everyone has to start somewhere so do not let your pride get in the way. If you consistently work hard, you will see results quickly!
