June's Athlete of the Month
Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.
Congrats are in order for Charles Miller. Charles has been killing it since he joined H Dub almost a year ago. Not only does he display consistency and hard work, but he is always spreading H Dub love and introducing H Dub to his friends, which we love! His hard work doesn't stop in the gym, though. He is so talented both as a drummer and in his career in brand consulting. Did we mention he created the logo for H Dub's Hustle class?? Hit him up for all of your branding needs! Thanks for always bringing good vibes to the gym, Charles!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I grew up in central NC and moved to Nashville to attend Belmont University in 2008. I’m married to the beautiful Lana Miller and we have two cats named Gwen and Stella.
I run a small branding company called Platoon where we help businesses stand out and attract the right customers. Outside of work, I play drums in a band called Better Off, make visual art, and travel as much as possible.
What were your goals when you started CrossFit?
I needed something new. I had been doing the same boring fitness routine for several years at the YMCA. I still really love the Y, but I wanted some expert guidance and a routine that was more varied and challenging.
How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it?
I’m almost a year in. I needed something really challenging — so I googled CrossFit gyms in my neighborhood and somehow totally lucked out on finding H-Dub.
What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit?
Favorite: Burpees (I know that sounds insane)
Least Favorite: Thrusters
How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you?
The community is incredible! Everyone is positive and rooting for you to succeed: both in fitness and in life. I’m reminded on a daily basis that I am capable of achieving things that are seemingly difficult.
What advice do you have for newcomers?
Don’t be afraid of movements you’re bad at!
What is something no one at the gym knows about you?
I used to really not like cats, but then I married Lana and now I like cats.
