July's Athlete of the Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.

We are happy to crown Mrs. Dianna Griffey as July's Athlete of the Month. She has been working so hard lately and it is paying off! With a new job came a new schedule and she had to make a shift to fit her workout in. She is now a 5:30am regular and is killing it! Staying motivated can be hard sometimes, but Dianna gets to the gym ready to work even when she doesn't feel like it. We also love that she brings such a fun personality to the first class of the day. She has made such strides the past few months, and we are proud and want to recognize her for it. Keep up the hard work, D!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I’m an awkward, nerdy ginger with a crazy, stupid soft spot for animals. I love anything science-fiction, and will always be waiting for my Hogwarts letter. My favorite things to do are get lost in fictional books and movies, hike with my hubby and puppers, and spend quality time with my close friends and family.

What were your goals when you started CrossFit? Tbh, I didn’t have many, but since starting I’ve seen myself become stronger both mentally and physically. Now my goals are to improve in all areas that I can, and to keep pushing myself even when I want to give up.

How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it? I’ve been doing CrossFit for just over 2 years. I originally got started because my husband drug me into it.

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit? My favorite thing we do is the strength training. It makes me feel strong and like I’m capable of so much more than I think I am. My least favorite is gymnastics because I suck at them - but it pushes me to be better!

How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you? CrossFit has been one of the best things for me, and I’m so glad I stuck with it. It has shown me that if I don’t give up, I will eventually reach my goals, even if it takes 2 damn years.

What advice do you have for newcomers? Don’t let it intimidate you! I was terrified when I started and had no idea why I was letting Andy drag me into it, but it has been one of the best experiences of my life. I look forward to coming to the gym, even at 5:30AM, because I know that even if it sucks while you’re doing it, you come out so much better for it in the end. And, you know, H Dub is the best gym literally ever.

What is something no one at the gym knows about you? Probably that I was an extra in the Hannah Montana movie and was actually on the set for the carnival scene. Although I never actually made the cut to actually be in the movie.

Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive? Alive: Emma Watson Karen Gillian Hayley Williams Dead: My Grandpa My Aunt Peggy

If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be? Fergalicious, all day every day.

Favorite Sport? Volleyball!

If you could have one super power what would it be? To read the minds of animals or be able to talk to them. Like Eliza Thornberry.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

Pizza, forever and always.
