September's Athlete of the Month
Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.
We can't say enough amazing things about this month's athlete of the month. Congrats are in order to everyone's favorite person, Mike Finn! He is one of the hardest workers we have ever met, inside and outside the gym. He gives 100% to everything he does. Besides working hard, he is genuine and kind to everyone he encounters and we are grateful to have him at the Dub!

Tell us a little bit about yourself: What were your goals when you started CrossFit?
To try to make the best version of myself. At the time, I was at my heaviest when I first joined and I wanted to make change. I lived right around the corner from Crossfit New England
How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it?
I got introduced to Crossfit in the summer of 2012, on the Van Warped Tour, one of my friends bands had a trainer out with them that year and he owned an affiliate in Massachusetts called Crossfit New Bedford. A group of us would me up nightly and work out.
Again Faster came out and captured it -

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit?
My favorite things in CrossFit are short sprint workouts, and anything with a barbell. I love it.
My LEAST favorite thing to do is Run, man do I HATE running. I should probably run everyday for that reason, but I chose not to.
How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you?
H-Dub encompasses everything Crossfit and the Crossfit Community stands for. Walking in to the gym you are always welcomed by smiles and high fives. Everyone there pushes themselves daily and that pushes me to try harder. It's allowed me to make some of my closest friends, and if we were in a different scenario I might of not ended up friends with them.
What advice do you have for newcomers?
The biggest fear is taking the first step. I always tell my friends, “Come in and say hi, you’ll see” and that usually works. Ben Bergeron taught me the 1% method, where you try to be 1% better everyday. I apply to all aspects of my life, and for a newcomer, just by walking in the door, you become 1% better.
