February's Athlete of the Month
Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.
If there was a most popular award, this guy would get it. Congrats to Andy Tomlinson on being awesome! He is loved by all and we are certainly very lucky to have him as part of our H Dub family. Not only does he get his fitness on with us on the reg, but he is also the man behind all of our badass photos and videos. Not only does he walk in the doors of the Dub with a smile on, but his energy is so contagious everyone in the gym is going to leave with a smile if you are lucky enough to be in the same class as Andy.

Name: Andy Tomlinson
Hometown: Decatur, IL // Kenosha, WI
Age: 28
Occupation: Customer Success
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I love to help people, listen, and make people smile when I can. I tend to always put others in front of myself to make sure that everyone else is taken care of and kosher prior to taking care of myself. I enjoy playing videogames in my spare time along with taking photos / videos of people doing functional fitness.
What were your goals when you started CrossFit?
Honestly, was just tired of being fat. Or perceptionally fat. Dianna and I had just gotten married, I was doing YMCA stuff and running 3 days a week, but once running got old; the gym started to as well. I wasn’t able to go with some friends of mine as often due to scheduling conflicts and then I just stopped going altogether.
How long have you been doing CrossFit and how did you get into it?
Umm….3.5 years now? Is that right? I think it is. I started and then stopped and then started again.
What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in CrossFit?
Favorite thing we do in CrossFit is supporting and encouraging each other. There’s a lot of power in that that I don’t think people recognize enough. I don’t really have a least favorite thing. I think if you asked me a year ago, I would have had a pretty large list; now I just look at most things as an opportunity to get better.
How has CrossFit H Dub positively affected you?
Honestly, that last piece from above; it’s really my mindset. The one more rep mentality is something you kinda gotta search for. Once I found it; it’s really helped me out inside and outside of the gym.
What advice do you have for newcomers?
Gyms can be scary, we aren’t. Be true to yourself, and show up that way. Our gym is only as great as the authenticity of our people. Welcome to our family.
What is something no one at the gym knows about you?
When I was in 5th grade, till the time I was a freshman in high school, I had dolphin bed sheets.
Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive?
Chris Farley, Scott Rolen, Peter McKinnon
If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be.
Back in Black is always a sick walkout track
Favorite Sport?
Baseball probably
If you could have one super power what would it be?
I always make a Dane Cook joke about spaghetti fingers here, but after flying a drone for awhile; flight would be sick
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Gino’s East pizza currently. It goes in waves but pizza is always a good way to go.
