August's Athlete of the Month
Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make CFHD the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better.
This month we are highlighting the fittest bartender we know - Will Mainord! We have never seen Will in a bad mood and he is always making the best of every situtation.. even when is work closed down due to Covid19. We could all learn from his positive attitude. He is also very dedicated to his fitness and it shows. His consistency pays off and we have loved seeing him grow and improve in the gym. Keep it up, Will!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m Will, I’m from a small town in West TN.
I moved to Nashville in 2015 to be closer to family after living in NYC for a short time. Still dream of doing something artistic professionally. I grew up writing, playing music, acting, now I’m trying learn photography/editing.
What were your goals when you started with H Dub?
To up my conditioning/cardio and push myself instead of doing the typical training style that I had been become lazy with
How long have you been at H Dub and how did you get involved?
I started going to H Dub in March 2019, I was trying to attempt high intensity workouts in my apartment gym and realized how much I missed working out with a group of friends and suffering through workouts together. Looked up gyms close by, found H Dub, met with Trey who put me through Fight Gone Bad, and realized I was in the right place.
What is your favorite/least favorite movement we perform in training?
Favorite: Handstand Walk, I love gymnastics
Least Favorite: Thrusters
How has H Dub Athletics positively affected you?
It’s given me a community of friends that I desperately needed. Before H Dub I had become so accustomed to living the bartending lifestyle and it was making me miserable and my mental health a wreck. Coming to the gym and hanging with everyone helped push me into being a more positive minded person.
What advice do you have for newcomers?
It might be intimidating at first but everyone at the gym wants to see you succeed and see your progression at a skill. I’m a quiet person but I will cheer/scream my head off if I see you set a new PR or do a movement for the first time. Don’t compare your 3rd day to someone else’s 392nd day. Come in and prove to yourself that you’re capable of much more than you think.
What is something no one at the gym knows about you?
When I was 16 I had to have emergency surgery to stitch my tongue back together after I had bitten about 90% through it after a freak accident.
Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive?
Robin Williams, Groucho Marx, and Mitch Hedberg
If you had an intro song when you walk into the gym what would it be.
“Alleviate” - Moving Mountains
Favorite Sport?
Basketball
If you could have one super power what would it be?
Teleportation
What is your favorite cheat meal?
