April's Athlete Of The Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make H Dub the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better!

Congrats Brett Mansfield! Brett has made tremendous progress since joining H Dub. In just 6

months, he has lost over 20lbs! This is due to him trusting the process and continuing to show up day after day. He always has a positive attitude even if the workout is not one of his favorites. We also love how friendly Brett is. Most new people are a bit timid but not Brett. If he sees someone he does not know, he makes sure to introduce himself with a big smile on his face. He is a family man through and through. Family is one of the reasons that he came to us and he loves to tell you about his amazing wife and kids. Learn more about Brett below:

Tell us a little bit about yourself: I grew up in a small town in southern middle Tennessee and was the oldest of three brothers. I played golf and baseball in high school and after high school had the opportunity to play golf at the University of Tennessee Martin. After my freshman year, I transferred to the University of Tennessee Knoxville. It was there I met my wife, and after college we moved back to Nashville. I currently am the owner of an appraisal / brokerage firm in town. My wife and I have three children, two girls (9,7) and a boy (2). In my free time I enjoy playing golf and spending time outdoors with my kids. I have seasonal depression so anything outside in the sun makes me happy.

What were your goals when you started training? When I had my intro meeting with Trey I was admittedly not in a great place physically. I told Trey my goal was to be able to attend my daughter’s wedding one day. He told me, lets shoot for attending your granddaughters wedding instead. This was a very impactful statement. My goals were simple, a lifestyle change!

How long have you been at H Dub and how did you get into it? I started in August of 2022 and started because of my prior friendship with Trey and the proximity of H Dub to my office.

What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in training? My favorite workouts would consist of row / ski / body weight movements. My least favorite would consist of most gymnastic work and double unders (not sure why I still suck at these).

How has H Dub positively affected you? I came to H Dub to loose weight and get in better shape but have learned so much more. I have learned how to eat, sleep, and listen to my body. This has given me confidence in and outside the gym. While my initial goal was physical, I would say the greatest benefit is how this change has positively impacted my mental state.

What advice do you have for newcomers? A great answer is to just show up and keep coming and this is very important. I would also say to trust the process. I look around at H Dub veterans and can see the results (physically, mentally, and socially) of trusting the process. Nothing worth having comes easy and most days are hard but trusting in making the right decisions daily will pay off. Also, the community at H Dub is incredible, lots of really good people.

What is something no one at the gym knows about you? My senior year in high school, I got hit by a speed boat on the lake. The propeller about took off my arm and I have a great scar to prove it!

Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive? My mom (if you can, call your momma today), Warren Buffett, Bert Kreischer

Favorite Sport? Easy, golf

If you could have one super power what would it be? Mind Reading

What is your favorite thing to eat? Anything pork and slow smoked (BBQ)
