January's Athlete of the Month

Time to highlight one of our spectacular athletes! What makes up an Athlete of the Month? Not RX’ing every workout or lifting the most weight. This athlete exhibits consistency and a hard work mentality. Every time they come to the gym they have a good attitude and give their all. This person is also welcoming of others, helping make H Dub the best community there is. Each month we choose a different athlete and post some fun facts about them to help y’all get to know them better!


Congrats to Spencer Freeman! He stays consistent and true to his 5:30pm crew. Throughout his time with us we have seen his fitness capability improve. Yes, walking through the door is important, but it's also important to put forth the effort to see those fitness strides and get closer to your goals. Spencer does just that. Not only that, but he exudes kindness and positivity always! We are thankful to have Spencer in the H Dub fam.

Tell us a little bit about yourself: Things I love - Jesus, Elam (wife), Wedgewood Houston, Traveling, Great food/restaurants, Simple saturday nights with friends!


What were your goals when you started training? To get back "into working out" - I was coming off a couple year gap after consistently working out from 15 - 22 yrs old.


How long have you been at H Dub and how did you get into it? ~2.5 years and an invitation from Cody Hutchins


What is your favorite/least favorite thing we do in training? Favorite: Hang cleans; Least favorite: Thrusters


How has H Dub positively affected you? New friends/community -- the good energy is contagious and I always look forward to seeing everyone; increased strength and cardio

What advice do you have for newcomers? Stretch and take the warmup seriously; listen to your body and don't focus on what others are doing around you; have fun!


What is something no one at the gym knows about you? 1st degree black belt in Taekwondo

Who are 3 people you would have a meal or drink with dead or alive? Winston Churchill, Matthew McConaughey, Michael Jordan
